Rishi Sunak, a British politician and investor, was born in Southampton, England, on May 12, 1980. In October 2022, he was elected leader of the Conservative Party and prime minister of the United Kingdom. He was previously the Exchequer’s chancellor (2020–22).
Sunak was born into an immigrant family. His mother and father were born in Tanzania and Kenya, respectively, after his grandparents moved to East Africa from Punjab in northwest India.

2010 saw Sunak begin his employment with the Conservative Party. During this period, he began working with Policy Exchange, a well-known think tank for conservatives, and in 2014 he was named head of the BME Research Unit.

He resigned in November 2009 to work alongside old coworkers at Theleme Partners, a new hedge fund company with $700 million under management that debuted in October 2010.
